Effects of Plant Growth Regulators on Organ differentiation as Cultivars and Organs of Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas Poir.) by in vitro

Abstract
Studies with IAA and BA treatments in vitro culture were conducted for sweet potato cultivar `Shin-mi¢¥, `Hong-mi¢¥ and `Hwang-mi¢¥ to clarify the effects of organ differentiation on tuberous roots, axillary buds, stems, petioles, leaves, and the results obtained thus are summarized as follows;
1. In organ differentiation among cultivars, `Hong-mi¢¥ was the best on tuberous roots, stems, and leaves. But on petioles, `Hwang-mi¢¥ was the best. And difference from cultivars did not appear on axillary bud.
2. In organ differentiation, axillary bud explants showed the best and the next were stems and petioles in that order, and leaves showed the poorest.
3. In various combination treatments of IAA and BA concentrations, IAA 0. 5§·/§¤ treatment and IAA l§·/§¤ treatment were most effective in root formation on five organs.
4. The more the BA concentration increased, the more the growth of five organs reduced.
5. In organ differentiation from tuberous roots, stems, petioles, and leaves of cultivars, root developments were better than that of shoot.
6. The higher the BA concentration, the better the growth of callus.
7. In apical (proximal), middle, basal (distal) portions of tuberous root in `Shin-mi¢¥ with various combination treatments of IAA and BA concentrations, the root growth of apical(proximal) portion was notable, and the rate of rooting of basal(distal) portion was good. But difference from combination treatments of IAA and BA concentrations did not appear.
